SDCC “10″ 27/05

27 05 2012

Hello all,

At last we get some May-like weather. No rain and some sunshine. Amazing!

Phil went round in 24.59 and I, suffering in the rising wind on the first leg, did 23.04.      (You can never get back what you lost)

Best of the ladies was Anne Shuttleworth with 24.24 and the event was won by David McGaw from Cambridge CC in 20.49.

Let’s just hope the weather stays seasonal           All the best    Guy

Kings Lynn “10″ 19/05

21 05 2012

Hello all,

Well the weather rears its ugly head again. It was quite mild in Norwich (shorts and one jersey) but as we moved West it just got colder and colder. The wind that we’d been promised would be from the South West had magically changed to the North East. After putting on all the clothes I had and warming up (ho!ho!), the start/first leg with the wind was merely painful but the final stretch into the wind HURT!

I was, however,  happy to top 25mph in my fourth event with 23.49. Phil did 26.00 dead and Catherine Essex won the ladies prize with 25.07. The fastest was Daniel Bloy (KLCC) who’s really making his mark with 21.10.

Next event for me is the Stowmarket “10″ on Sunday darn Sarf on the A14 near Rougham.

Everybody stay safe         Guy

Wolsey RC “25″ 13/5

14 05 2012

Hello all,

This is run as the Pat Pepper Memorial Trophy event and we had quite a pleasant morning with no rain and some very welcome sunshine although still chilly first thing in the morning.

We were on the B25/50, which is the main A143 between Redenhall and the Chicken roundabout on the Norwich road, to be covered twice. The first leg of the first circuit was almost too easy and lulled you into thinking it would all be like this. However, completing the first circuit and coming up to the finish, the rising headwind really hit you, second time round being even worse.

Laura Gambling was the fastest lady in 1.04.02, taking the trophy and beating the opposition by almost four minutes.

Phil did 1.08.21 and I fought round in 1.00.44 which, although pathetic, was my fastest of the year so far (I also won the fastest in my age group so not a total waste of time!)

Daniel Bloy was the best on the day with 55.25   Next event is the Kings Lynn “10″ on Saturday

Everybody stay safe           Guy

Hello all,

First a weather report— Fine and sunny at first with very little wind and temperatures above freezing (now this is different).

No mucking about:  I did a very disappointing 24.08 but the day did turn out to be surprisingly slow for everyone. Sally Withey was the fastest lady in 27.04 and Jim Burgess won with 21.20.

Next Saturday, the North Norfolk Wheelers are holding a “100″ but this could just be a printing error (it’s not!)

My next event is the Wolsey RC “25″ on Sunday using the same bit of road as today, twice and adding a bit.

This is your reporter signing off and looking outside it’s just started raining. Well we are in drought conditions.

Guy
